Born in Messina in 1960, Trimarchi grew up surrounded by art. He was introduced to drawing by his father, which is when his passion for painting started.

In 1978, at the age of 18, he moved to London where he continued drawing and sketching.

Trimarchi supported his artwork by pursuing a variety of jobs, inspired by the constant beat of the city in the 1980s - themes that are evident in much of his work today.

Initially he drew inspiration from the forms and shapes of the surrealists and the use of colour by the fauve movement. Since then, he has concentrated on the portrayal of human and animal forms - their interaction and synthesis.

Positive and negative space, the metamorphosis and fluidity of his subject matter and the use of strong colour's have become central themes of his work.

In 1988, Trimarchi started work predominantly in oil paint. Ten years later, at florence's prestigious Vetrina Degli Artisti Contempranei art show, the jury awarded him a prize in recognition of his outstanding work.

Today, Trimarchi works in both oil paint and ink on paper - stimulated as ever, by the people and experiences in the fast-moving urban landscape that he considers home
